Gray Construction is looking to hire a Senior Accountant to join its team in our Lexington, Kentucky office.

Responsibilities

What we expect... (Essential Functions)

  • Liaison between Project Management teams and Accounting Department 
  • Assist in monthly analysis of each project’s current financial position including final projected cost, projected percent complete and final completion date
  • Communicate Red File Financial update monthly
  • Prepare month-end Work in Progress schedule with reconciliation to financial statements and associated journal entries for Gray Construction subsidiaries
  • Review project contract, projected cost, actual cost, billings, and projected percent complete for proper accounting under GAAP
  • Manage Revenue Recognition 606 Policy and related documentation, coordination with external auditors and complete required reporting   
  • Responsible for Financial Statement Review of Subcontractor Financial Statements for Prequalification and coordination of risk mitigation with Project Services and project team
  • Coordinate job cost audits and project-specific cost reporting requirements for internal and external customers
  • Review customer contracts to ensure proper recording of project cost

Qualifications

Who we want… (Requirements)

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business and three (3) to five (5) years of experience in accounting. The Ideal candidates will have experience with construction and foreign currency accounting. This person must be physically present for work in the Lexington office with potential for hybrid remote work schedule.

 

The position requires proficient computer skills including the ability to utilize word processing, complex Excel spreadsheets, and e-mail applications. CMIC experience or other construction cloud-based software knowledge a plus. Other requirements include a high level of analytical, communication, and organizational skills with attention to detail, the ability to solve problems and coordinate efforts with internal Gray personnel. A comprehensive knowledge of GAAP is expected.
