Overview

InLine Engineers, a Gray Company, is looking for a CAD Design Lead. InLine has been providing engineering and project management services for the development and execution of capital projects relating to processing, packaging, and facility improvements in the food and beverage industry since 1996.

Responsibilities

Position Description

The CAD Design Lead is accountable for the technical assurance and delivery assurance for the assigned  deliverables and modeling scopes. The CAD Design Lead directs a team within the Design Department in development of 3D modeling and detailed drawing packages for field construction of industrial food and beverage production facilities, involving processing and packaging equipment, piping, electrical, and general arrangements.  The CAD Design Lead ensures his team uses checking processes for their team’s deliverables on projects.  CAD Design Lead shall be fully proficient in the use of AutoCAD Plant 3D. The individual must have also mastered the CAD Designer role. Reports to the Design Engineering Manager. This is a salaried, exempt position.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage a Design team to ensure that construction drawings base on system layout concepts are delivered accurately and on schedule.
  • Responsible for the design and layout, and delivery of complex processing and packaging systems.
  • Review specifications to ensure compliance of designs.
  • Provide technical direction and motivation over other CAD Designers independently applying sound and diversified knowledge of design principles and practices.
  • Maintain drawing standards files in accordance with Company and Client standards, and aid with the creation of new Company standards.
  • Liaise with other engineering and technical personnel including personnel from other disciplines to ensure overall project goals are met.
  • Responsible for complying with project change control processes for Process and Packaging deliverables.
  • Responsible for reporting progress (for assigned scopes) in accordance with Project Control procedures to the Design Engineering Manager.

  • While performing the duties of this position, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands or arms, and talk or hear. They may occasionally be required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision.
  • Generally, normal office environment where noise level is moderate and temperature/humidity is controlled. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in a mechanical design or engineering discipline.
  • The successful candidate will have at least 7 years in a CAD Designer role, the majority being in Piping Design.
  • Demonstrate an advanced ability to create and manipulate drawings in AutoCAD Plant 3D.
  • Prior field experience is a must.
  • Advanced knowledge of Autodesk software including AutoCAD, Autodesk Plant 3D, BIM 360 and Navisworks (2017 or higher).
  • Required software competencies include MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook.
  • Ability to work with point clouds as part of the design process is a plus for this position.
  • General knowledge of the design software in the Autodesk AEC Design Collection is a plus.
  • Perform tasks under minimal supervision. Must be highly organized, creative, thorough, detail oriented, and focused on quality work.
  • Assist in problem solving as a Design Team Leader.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to convey information and ideas to individuals and groups.
  • Possibility of up to 15% travel.
  • Familiarity with P&ID’s and Equipment Layouts.
  • Knowledge of Revit is a plus.
  • Knowledge of 3D scanning is a plus.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
